What does the word "Lexogon™" mean?

“Lexogon™” is a made-up word. It combines parts of “lexicon” meaning “vocabulary” and “octagon”, referring to the shape of the playing area.

What is Lexogon™?

Lexogon™ is a challenging, fast-paced word game where you think about words in a great new way.

Lexogon™ stretches your brain, memory and mettle. It stimulates your vocabulary, your word recognition skills and your creativity. But – most importantly – it makes you think, laugh and want to play again.

And, unlike other word games, you’re not bored with waiting for other players to complete their turn, because you’re playing all the time.

The game's unique challenge

Think of a word that uses 3 clue letters in order, but arranged in the special way required by your “Category Rule.” There are seven different categories to solve. Category clues are determined when you land on a particular color as you go around the board. Be the first to come up with words for all seven categories and you’ve won.

But there’s risk, luck and strategy involved: you can be challenged, you can lose a turn or credit for a category, you can send someone back to “start”, you can “zap” or be “zapped” by another player – it all depends on the roll of the die, the clues and your way with words.

Different vocabulary skills levels can play together

Players of differing vocabulary skills can play together since there is an “intermediate” deck of clue cards for a high school level vocabulary and a “standard” deck for a college level vocabulary.
